Since 2006 dental professionals are expected to be able to deal with medical emergencies as well as resuscitation training. We provide a one day course that will cover all the recommended emergencies and resuscitation. We also have divided the day into 2 hour sessions for your convenience. Our resuscitation training goes beyond Basic Life Support and covers the following topics:
Standardised approach to the initial assessment of the seriously ill patient attending the principles of : Airway,Breathing,Circulation,Disability and Exposure. This universally accepted assessment method is the building block for the recognition and treatment of most medical emergencies.
After learning how to assess your patient, we will use scenario based teaching to explore the most common dental emergencies: -Asthma -Diabetes -Angina -Adrenergic emergencies -Epilepsy
Following the latest Resuscitation Council UK guidelines, our experienced instructors will show you how to react to the patient in cardiac arrest: -Assess for danger. -Check for response techniques. -Summon help. -Confirmation of cardiac arrest. -CPR for adults.
AED has become one of the most important parts of the Basic Life Support process. This is the reason why at beat4beat we include this element in all our BLS sessions: -When to defibrillate. -Alternative position of the pads for medical patients. -Safety checks. -Safe defibrillation.
Covering the choking algorithms for adult and paediatric patients and demonstrating the following techniques: -Black slaps. -Abdominal thrust. -Management of the unconscious choking casualty.
We will take you through the initial management and recognition of anaphylaxis: -Diagnosis of Anaphylaxis using the A to E approach. -Initial management of Anaphylaxis. -The use of self injecting devices.
