This three day course consist on 18 hours of classes and practical skills to give you the understanding and confidence to intervene when an emergency arises . Attending the whole course and completing a final supervised assessment will provide you with a FAW certificate valid for 3 years. The course includes:
-Duties of the first aider
-The unconscious casualty
-Basic life support, AED
-Wounds and bleeding
-The management of shock
-Burns and scalds
-After accident action
This one day course covers the most common emergencies over 6 hours of instruction and includes the following topics:
-Primary and Secondary survey DRABC approach
-Basic Life Support, adult at work and child in school.
-The use of Automated External Defibrillation (AED).
-Most common first aid interventions during the treatment of: bleeding, fractures,burns and treatment of shock.
-Causes and interventions for unconscious patient including: Heart attack, stroke, asthma, epilepsy, diabetes and anaphylaxis.
This is a recognised qualification but does not involve a formal assessment. Candidates must attend the whole day to receive a certificate.
During this 2 days course you will revisit the principles of FAW and renew your certificate for a further 3 years.
